Q. How do your manuals work?
Good question, the owner’s manuals for your car ALWAYS seems to go missing. And aside from having the official maintenance info and operating tips straight from the engineers that built your VW, it’s just nice to have.
Volkswagen doesn’t offer up manuals for download, but you can order a new one (see below) or try to track a used one (see below).
This is where we come in. We’ve scanned the original manuals and made them available in PDF form so you can have them on your computer, tablet, or mobile phone. You can make as many backup copies as you like and we never turn off the the link to download your manual again. If you lose the link, just email us.
First, check your spam filter. Always check the spam filter.
If you still can’t find the email (misspelled email, lost your password, hard drive crash, alien abduction) just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with the details, and we can forward the link again.
Q. Where I can find a hard copy version of my manual ?
Yes, you can buy physical replacement VW owner’s manuals here:
…no that site address is dead. Goto here: https://literature.vw.com
They cost around $85 plus shipping and don’t come with the original black binder or leather case.
Also, here are some links to online VW manuals resources:
VW Late Model Owner’s Manuals (2011 and newer, VIN required) – http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/manuals
VW Technical Glossary – http://en.volkswagen.com/en/innovation-and-technology/technical-glossary.html

Some 2016 and newer manuals can be viewed at knowyourvw.com
There is an official iPad app that is only available in the U.S. iTunes store named VW iOwn. Reviews are consistently poor, gaining a 1 out of 5 star rating. Again, you must have your VIN number to gain access.
Nope. The iOwn app has been deprecated (dead) in favour of the Knowing Your Volkswagen app. The app only works on iOS, iPhone, iPad.
Also, you can sometimes find your manual at a local parts wrecker or on eBay.
Q. What format do your manuals come in?
PDF (Portable Document Format)
Q. How can I view and read my manual on my iPad, iPhone, Android Tablet or Smartphone?
iPad: we recommend Apple’s own free iBooks app.
Android: we recommend the Radaee app.
Windows 7: use Adobe Acrobat Reader
Macs: built-in Preview app (or Adobe Acrobat Reader)
Tutorials: COMING SOON!
Q. Can I see a sample of one of the manuals?
Yes, go to the Sample Manual page…
Q. Is a Paypal account required to make a contribution payment?
No and MAYBE. In North America, you can use Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or a Paypal account. We only use Paypal as our payment processor. BUT in some countries outside North America, Paypal insists on requiring a purchaser to start a Paypal account. Which is just dumb, I’m sorry. If this is the case for you, Contact Us and we’ll see if there’s another way you can send a contribution.
